　　科恩的生平和经历，网上通过谷歌和百度都能查到，在此不再赘述。他特有的沙哑苍老的嗓音、喃喃自语的低诉大概是最能吸引听众的一个原因。大约世界上只有他才能发出这样富有磁力的、像黑洞般把人吸进去的声音。鲍勃·迪伦曾说：“如果我必须当一分钟其他人，那个人很可能就是科恩。”

　　他是诗人、民谣歌手、小说家。34岁出版第一张专辑《莱昂纳德·科恩之歌》，在音乐的发展道路上差不多像个老头子一样了。他和鲍勃迪伦不同，他只写诗写歌，不关心政治，所有的语言都直接的表达内心所想，不用华丽修饰，不用添加矫情成分，音乐因为他的诗而存在，唱他的歌如同读他的诗品他的人。

　　他离不开女人，早年的情史足够写一本厚书，当年在希腊Hydra岛上的木屋里，他与玛丽安的风流韵事也被他在《太久了，玛丽安》作品中记录下来。当他想要自我流放的时候，那个岛屿给了他想要的生活，那些女人给了他过于奢侈的爱。

　　他把爱情的回忆和探讨放到了音乐中，留在了诗歌里。
